About the role

About the Role

As a Legal Counsel at AXA XL, you will serve as the primary point of contact and a dedicated Business Partner for various underwriting departments. You will provide compliant legal solutions tailored to the needs of AXA XL's clients and partners. This role involves independently managing diverse projects and deadlines, including the implementation and monitoring of new products. You will also be responsible for legal watch, contributing to the update of legal knowledge, and training underwriters, underwriting assistants, CDLs, and claims managers. This position offers support for international programs and assists the Head of Legal France & Southern Europe in managing relationships with local authorities and market organizations. You will also support international transversal teams and review/validate contractual documents such as (re)insurance contracts, confidentiality agreements, mandates, brokerage agreements, and commercial contracts. You will support the APAC Europe / International legal team locally and oversee legal services provided by external counsel. You will report to the Head of Legal France & Southern Europe.

What You Bring

  • Master's degree in Private Law, preferably Insurance Law.
  • Solid professional experience within an insurance company, brokerage firm, and/or law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance law, reinsurance, general contract law, and civil liability.
  • Excellent drafting skills, especially in contractual matters.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic work environment with changing needs and priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and pedagogical skills.
