Job Description
About the Role: Compliance Specialist at Aviva
Aviva is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join its Life & Pensions team. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive regulatory compliance experience, specifically concerning the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) conduct requirements, rather than an AML/KYC operational background. If you possess a deep understanding of the practical application of the Consumer Protection Code (CPC) and are passionate about collaborating with teams to ensure strong customer outcomes, you will thrive in this position. You will play a pivotal role in interpreting and applying conduct rules across the business, contributing to Aviva's commitment to responsible practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the compliance plan through conduct-focused monitoring, thematic reviews, and advisory work, aligning with CBI conduct standards and the CPC.
- Provide clear, practical regulatory advice on CPC obligations, product governance, complaints handling, Fitness & Probity, corporate governance, and customer outcomes.
- Partner with operational teams, Product, Distribution, Risk, and Internal Audit to identify, assess, and mitigate conduct and compliance risks.
- Track and escalate conduct-related breaches, and support regulatory and internal reporting, including updates for the Risk Committee.
- Promote a robust compliance culture by updating policies, interpreting regulatory changes, and facilitating education and training across the business.
Skills & Experiences
- Proven experience in a broad regulatory compliance role within insurance/financial services, demonstrating a strong understanding of the CPC, conduct of business rules, and CBI expectations.
- Solid knowledge of Fitness & Probity, MCC, product governance, and customer-outcome frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen capacity to interpret regulatory developments and offer clear, risk-based advice.
- Confident communication skills, adept at influencing stakeholders and challenging effectively when necessary.
- Ability to monitor regulatory changes, interpret CBI thematic insights, and translate them into practical guidance for relevant teams.
Fitness and Probity
This is a Regulated Role and requires enhanced pre-employment screening. The successful candidate will have an ongoing obligation to maintain fit and proper status.
