Job Summary

The Buyer/Planner at Avid is crucial for ensuring the on-time delivery of products at the best possible price, while actively minimizing production inventory levels for Avid and its suppliers. This pivotal role encompasses managing purchasing, materials requirements planning, inventory levels and turns, supplier performance, and maintaining ERP data throughout the entire production life cycle.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Partner cross-functionally with product quality, order fulfillment, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, new product introduction, and logistics teams to ensure customer success.
  • Focus on meeting specific metrics related to on-time delivery, approved cost, product availability, and on-time shipment.
  • Manage suppliers and supply chain vendors to execute strategic material programs, minimize excess and obsolete inventory, and prevent material shortages.
  • Utilize a strong understanding of material requirements planning to evaluate purchase requisition accuracy and necessity.
  • Approve and execute engineering change orders or deviations that impact material availability, material obsolescence, and production throughput.
  • Support the entire product manufacturing life cycle, with particular attention to introduction, growth, and phase-out stages, including calculating and executing last-time buy purchases followed by stock depletion.
  • Understand supplier contracts and KPIs to enhance supplier performance and safeguard Avid from excessive inventory liability.
  • Collaborate with sourcing to optimize supplier selections for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform ERP data maintenance for critical records such as purchase info records, source lists, buyer codes, lead-times, MOQs, ROPs, and safety stocks.
  • Promptly resolve invoice discrepancies with accounts payable to ensure timely payments to vendors.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in supply chain procurement, planning, or sourcing is desired.
  • Experience purchasing electro-mechanical assemblies with PCBA content is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using NetSuite or equivalent ERP database systems.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, supply chain, and inventory stocking strategies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the impact of inventory on cash flow, costing activities, and price negotiation.
  • Proven ability to set and achieve goals and meet objectives.
  • Strong Microsoft Office computer skills, including the ability to provide management updates, oral and written presentations, supplier status summaries, and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
