About The Opportunity
Avenue Code is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to join a team transforming a single-platform product into a multi-platform global powerhouse, delivering immersive gaming, social, and commerce experiences across TV, web, and mobile. This role involves owning the evolution of an active-active global data infrastructure and scaling a cutting-edge cloud gaming ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Architect and operate globally distributed backend services for a high-performance gaming platform.
- Design scalable data systems utilizing Cassandra 5.0, semantic search, and AI-driven feature enrichment.
- Collaborate closely with frontend teams to enable seamless multi-platform expansion.
- Drive performance optimization via advanced caching, query tuning, and low-latency architectures.
- Implement robust observability, logging, and debugging infrastructure for production reliability.
- Model flexible metadata systems to power configurable experiences across TV, web, and mobile.
- Accelerate engineering delivery, unblock technical decisions, and elevate overall technical standards.
Required Qualifications
- Strong backend architecture experience building scalable, always-on distributed systems.
- Expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud-native environments.
- Solid DevOps mindset: scalability, observability, reliability, and performance optimization.
- Experience scaling products from single-tenant to multi-tenant environments.
- Ability to balance speed and quality, demonstrating pragmatic execution without sacrificing architecture.
- Advanced English communication skills, essential for daily collaboration with global teams.
