The Role

The Director, Asset Management is responsible for analyzing asset performance, executing value-creation and risk-mitigation opportunities, and enhancing community value and financial performance. You will partner with leaders across Operations, Construction, Investments, Development, and Corporate teams to optimize asset outcomes in alignment with AvalonBay’s long-term investment strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Management: Oversee activities for a defined portfolio, collaborate with Operations, Construction, Market Research, and other teams, analyze performance, and develop strategies to enhance NOI and asset value.
  • Capital Planning: Develop long-term projections, coordinate CapEx planning, and support hold/sell decision-making.
  • Financial Modeling: Maintain performance projections and perform valuation and redevelopment feasibility analyses.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as primary business owner for assets with complex ownership structures and drive cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred), 7+ years of relevant experience, strong financial modeling and real estate valuation skills, and exceptional communication and organizational skills.
