What You'll Do as an Automation & AI Workflows Developer

The Automation Team within Go-Live Operations at Avalara is seeking an Automation & AI Workflows Developer experienced in process automation platforms. In this role, you will significantly contribute to Avalara's automation roadmap by developing end-to-end workflows designed to boost consultant productivity, ensure data accuracy, and improve customer outcomes. Your success will hinge on your expertise in process improvement, integration design, and your ability to leverage low-code and AI tools to deliver robust and scalable automations. You will report directly to the Director, Technical Programmes.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Design automation workflows and integrate automation solutions with crucial systems such as Salesforce, Power BI, Confluence, JIRA, N8N, and Avalara internal APIs.
• Collaborate closely with Business Process SMEs, Analysts, and Operations Leads to thoroughly map manual workflows, define precise functional requirements, and design effective automation logic.
• Draft and execute comprehensive test plans for newly developed automations, conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions, and diligently maintain performance documentation.
• Create detailed process documentation, including solution design, data flow diagrams, and essential error handling guides.
• Prototype and implement innovative AI-enabled automations to enhance integration capabilities, intelligence, and overall user experience.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• A degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field, coupled with 2–4 years of professional, hands-on software development experience.
• Proven experience integrating automations with platforms like Salesforce, Power BI, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Proficiency in API-based integrations, including robust data extraction and meticulous exception handling.
• A solid understanding of test planning methodologies, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and comprehensive process documentation practices.
• Familiarity with modern AI workflow tools such as N8N, Glean, or the OpenAI API.
• Exposure to the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, PowerApps, Power BI), with proficiency in Python or VB.NET/C#.
• 3+ years of experience with Intelligent Document Processing (OCR/IDP) tools and familiarity with leading cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
