Technical Writer III at AV
The Technical Writer III role is part of the Content Marketing team at AeroVironment (AV) and focuses on creating high-quality documentation including manuals, white papers, and other technical documents. Working closely with engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts, this role is responsible for documenting product usage, maintaining templates, and supporting proposal materials with about 50% dedicated to proposal activities.
Position Responsibilities
- Guide and organize technical publication projects.
- Write, format, edit, and proofread a variety of documents.
- Collaborate with graphic designers on visuals and layout.
- Support proposal department with writing and formatting.
- Ensure content quality and meet publication deadlines.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communication or equivalent experience is required. Candidates should have 5-8 years experience in aviation, aerospace, or defense industries, or 9-12 years experience with a high school diploma/GED or AA degree. Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
- Shipley proposal training preferred.
- Familiarity with DoD/Govt. contracting is beneficial.
- Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position requires long periods of sitting or standing and frequent computer usage in an office environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary ranges from $78,986 to $112,035. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401K with matching, a 9/80 work schedule, and a paid holiday shutdown. For more details, visit the AV benefits page.
