Position Overview

Autodesk’s AEC Construction division is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Software Engineering Manager to lead our Access Control team. This team is responsible for permission management and authorization within Autodesk Construction Cloud. The ideal Software Engineering Manager will have strong leadership skills, a solid technical background and the ability to manage a team of skilled engineers working on high-traffic Node.js and PostgreSQL services.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Mentor, guide and inspire a team of talented software engineers.
  • Technical Oversight: Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of Node.js and PostgreSQL services.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders, managing project scopes and timelines.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop long-term strategies aligned with the AEC Construction division goals.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Drive continuous improvements in engineering practices including testing and deployment.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, DevOps, and QA for seamless software delivery.
  • Customer Focus: Ensure outputs deliver secure and intuitive user experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years in professional software development with backend focus.
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js and PostgreSQL.
  • 3-5 years of engineering management experience.
  • Understanding of permission management and authorization systems in large-scale applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Previous experience in construction technology industry.
  • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and API design.
