About Aurora
Aurora is a Silicon Valley Startup specializing in an API for searching, extracting, and structuring web data to provide clean data for AI applications and automate web workflows.
The Role: Software Developer
Aurora is seeking a highly intelligent builder passionate about solving complex problems with significant autonomy. This role focuses on developing an agentic search experience within our API, making it particularly exciting for candidates interested in search engines, retrieval systems, and AI-native architectures. While direct prior experience in search infrastructure is not a strict requirement, strong engineering fundamentals, intellectual sharpness, and cultural fit with a small, ambitious team are paramount. We value people we genuinely enjoy building with, believing other skills can be learned.
Technical Requirements
- Experience with AWS
- Proficiency in Node.js / JavaScript development
- Ability to create and manage browser plugins and/or applications (mobile/desktop)
- Hands-on experience integrating APIs from leading AI labs (e.g., Claude, OpenAI)
- Familiarity with AI-based editors (e.g., Cursor)
Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)
- Experience building or working on large-scale search systems
- Familiarity with indexing systems, ranking algorithms (e.g., BM25), vector search, or embeddings
- Background as a backend engineer or full-stack engineer
- Experience designing or scaling retrieval systems

- Excellent command of English
- Strong ability to work independently and responsibly

- Develop and maintain web applications
