Our Intern program is designed to provide hands-on technical training, professional growth, dedicated mentorship, and strong social connections, setting students up for an impactful career. We are accepting applications from Australian and New Zealand Citizens and Australian Permanent Residents for this paid, 12-week internship, running from November 2026 to February 2027.
The Site Reliability team is a rapidly expanding group central to Atlassian's mission of building world-class SaaS services. We are actively developing our teams, tools, and systems to provide real-time feedback on production systems, enabling rapid innovation. As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you will collaborate closely with product and platform developers to maintain and enhance services and performance. This is a dynamic team involved with nearly every technical team across Atlassian.
Responsibilities
- Work directly on production systems serving millions of global customers, developing skills to manage and resolve pings, pages, queries, and problems efficiently.
- Investigate root causes of system failures, gaining deep technical knowledge.
- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and virtualized delivery systems, ensuring continuous learning and engagement.
- Utilize technologies such as Apache, Nginx, Bash, Linux, AWS, virtualization technologies, Nagios, Python, Java, Puppet, and Atlassian products.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to commit to a 12-week full-time (40 hours/week) program from November 2026 - February 2027.
- Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, returning to the program after the internship, and graduating by January 2028.
- Proficiency in programming with Go, Java, Ruby, or Python.
- A strong passion for scripting and automating repetitive tasks.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.

- An active interest in industry trends, technologies, methods, and tooling.
