Overview

Atlassian offers flexible work arrangements where you can work from an office, home, or a combination. This role is fully remote but requires you be located in US Pacific or Mountain time zones.

Your Future Team

Join Atlassian as a Principal Backend Software Engineer, focused on delivering creative improvements for engineering teams. You will unblock challenges across the software development cycle by tackling technical design through launch, creating solutions used by multiple teams, and solving complex architecture challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Unblock challenges in software development cycle.
  • Create cross-team solutions and define architectural standards.
  • Lead code reviews, bug fixes, and documentation efforts.
  • Mentor junior engineers and influence technical decisions.
  • Collaborate on large-scale, company-wide projects.

Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on experience in software/technology leadership roles, a Bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science), and expertise in one or more prominent programming languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or Scala. Solid understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with experience in public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is required. Experience in mentoring engineers and evaluating trade-offs in technical decisions is essential.

Preferred Skills

Experience in Developer Experience or Developer Productivity, proficiency in Java or NodeJS, additional language experience, and CI/CD expertise.

Compensation

Atlassian offers competitive, equitable, and explainable compensation. Base pay for this role starts at approximately 206,100 in the designated pay zone, with eligibility for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
