Position Summary
The Solution Development Engineer at Atlanta Fork Lifts Inc is responsible for leading CAD design excellence, automation engineering, mobile automation deployments, and solution development for complex material handling systems. The role requires top-tier technical ability, creative problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration while serving as the internal authority on AMR and AGV integration.
Key Responsibilities
- CAD Design & Engineering: Lead system layouts, automation designs, and custom solutions using AutoCAD; maintain proprietary CAD block libraries and drawing templates; train and mentor junior designers; create virtual warehouse 3D renderings for sales and marketing.
- Solution Design & Engineering: Develop AMR based solutions from concept to implementation; perform site surveys; use CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to design systems; calculate throughput, ROI and resources.
- Automation & Robotics Deployment: Deploy, maintain, and support OTTO AMRs and Linde AGV PACS systems; lead demo deployments and serve as the technical contact for autonomous equipment; manage Fleet Manager software in coordination with IT.
- Customer Engagement & Collaboration: Participate in client discovery meetings; present solutions clearly to stakeholders; collaborate with sales, project management, and customer teams.
- Project Support: Assist with selection and configuration of AMR platforms; collaborate on WMS, WES, and ERP integrations; support commissioning, testing, and solution refinement.
- R&D and Industry Leadership: Liaise with OEMs for beta testing and feedback; contribute to continuous innovation.
- Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain engineering documentation; enforce safety, compliance, and best practices; contribute to internal knowledge base.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years with AutoCAD and a proven technical drawing portfolio.
- Experience with autonomous robotics, AGVs, or similar automation platforms.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills and cross-functional teamwork.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with software integration, PLCs, or scripting languages.
- Exposure to virtual/augmented reality applications for sales/marketing.
- Experience in warehouse automation, lean manufacturing, or material handling.
- Knowledge of fleet management software (OTTO Motors, ANT, PACS) and related hardware systems.
- Hands-on maintenance and AMR deployment experience.
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
The role involves periods of walking, talking, standing, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required including close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment.
