Overview
Astrion is seeking a Data Links and Communications Engineer to support the USAF Tactical Data Networks Enterprise Branch within the Aerial Networks Division at Hanscom AFB, MA.
Responsibilities
The role involves:
- Supporting development, integration, testing, and deployment of USAF systems and associated data links.
- Defining data link interoperability requirements, interface specifications, and verification/test assessment strategies.
- Collaborating with USAF, DoD, Army, Joint, and federal agencies to meet compliance standards from FAA, DISA, NSA, JMPS, and others.
- Interfacing with stakeholders including ACC, AFC2IC, JITC, and SPAWAR for C3 infrastructure and key distribution.
- Providing expertise in Tactical Platform OMS, Enterprise Communications integration, Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) Waveforms, J-Series & UCI Protocols, and Cryptologic Systems.
- Supporting mission areas such as Combat Net Radio (CNR), Test & Demonstration, Joint CONEMP, Link 16 Networking, and Interface Control.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- 15 years of relevant experience in Data Links and Communications Engineering with at least 5 years on DoD programs.
- Expertise in Link-16, UHF CNR, USMTF, and COMSEC systems.
- Knowledge of OMS architectures, AEHF/WGS waveforms, and tactical communications planning.
- Proficiency in developing DoDAF products, IERs, and interface specifications.
- Experience in operational testing and contribution to joint working groups.
