Join Our Team as Fabrication Manager Glazing Industry
We are seeking a tactical leader, not just a floor supervisor, to bridge the gap between our drafting table and the field. As the "Air Traffic Controller" of our shop, the Fabrication Manager Glazing Industry will oversee the entire project flow from shop drawings to products ready for job site installation. This role is crucial for coordinating the shop crew, collaborating with Project Managers, and upholding our stringent quality standards.
You will foster a "coach-player" relationship with our shop fabricators. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on perfect scheduling logic but is also eager to jump in to operate a saw or build a custom jig when the team needs an extra hand.
What a Typical Day Looks Like:
- The Morning Kick-off: Arrive early to prepare for the day. You'll review the latest drawings, check emails for field updates, and assign the crew to their stations as they arrive.
- The Technical Bridge: Review full-size shop drawings, proactively identifying dimensional errors before they reach the CNC, saw, or brake. You'll also create or assist in generating essential cut lists.
- Problem Solving: When new materials like aluminum arrive, you'll be responsible for designing the necessary jigs and educating the team on the "what" and "why" of new processes. You'll troubleshoot fabrication challenges and devise design solutions using existing shop equipment.
- Workflow Logic: Manage the intricate "dance" between the CNC, saw area, door department, and shipping/receiving to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smooth project progression.
- Quality Control & Shop Standards: Maintain high fabrication quality standards through continuous oversight of work in progress, ensuring every product meets R & R Window Contractors, Inc.'s reputation for excellence.
- The Afternoon Reset: As the shop floor winds down, you'll prepare for the next day by organizing materials, tracking job costs, and coordinating with Project Managers on upcoming deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5-10 years in fabrication (Glazing, Metal, or Architectural Millwork preferred).
- The "Eye": An expert ability to read shop drawings and instantly spot discrepancies.
- Leadership: 10 years or more of experience managing crews, with a natural talent for coaching and developing less experienced fabricators.
- Tech-Savvy: Possess mechanical aptitude for operating shop equipment and the ability to track hours and materials digitally. Proficiency with Microsoft 360 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.
- Reliability: A firm commitment to a 7:00 AM start time and the resilience to stay late when project demands necessitate it. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight project schedules.
Our Workforce
We pride ourselves on making a difference in the projects we undertake, guided by our core values of quality, integrity, and people. This commitment has built our outstanding reputation and fostered a workforce with many long-term employees who have had significant opportunities for growth and learning within the company.

The compensation for this position is $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year.
