Controller
The Controller provides leadership and coordination of property financial statements for a group of clients. In this role, you will lead a team of assistant controllers and accountants with regular interaction with clients and auditors. The focus is on ensuring that accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise the accounting team including assistant controllers and accountants.
- Ensure timely delivery and accuracy of financial statements.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding financial performance and accounting queries.
- Review rent rolls, reconcile bank statements, and monitor monthly results against budgets.
- Coordinate with operational teams on property financial budgets.
- Collaborate with other controllers, the CFO, and assistant controllers to set departmental goals and procedures.
- Participate in hiring processes and annual performance reviews.
- Manage staffing efficiency to meet performance metrics.
- Support audit responses and recommend procedural improvements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA Eligible or CPA Preferred
- Excellent critical reasoning, quantitative, and analytical skills
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and GAAP
- Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proven organizational skills with attention to detail
