Who We Are
Our mission is to help homeless animals, victims of cruelty and neglect, and animals whose owners face barriers to accessing veterinary services. By offering free or low-cost care, training veterinarians and students, and conducting clinical research shared with the broader veterinary field, the ASPCA significantly expands good welfare for animals.
What You’ll Do
As an ASPCA Veterinarian, you can find a role tailored to your skills, whether your interest lies in spay/neuter surgery, shelter medicine, general practice, forensic sciences, urgent care, or toxicology. We offer opportunities to provide essential medical and surgical care to animals in need—those who are homeless, victims of cruelty, or whose owners struggle with access to care. You can also engage directly with under-resourced communities to foster human-animal bonds, deploy to the field for urgent rescues, manage and lead teams, support applied clinical research, and train the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Where & When You’ll Work
Our work takes place in various settings nationwide, including community veterinary clinics, hospitals, mobile clinics, and shelter/rehabilitation centers. Regional remote positions are also available. We offer a range of shifts and employment options including full-time, part-time, and relief work. When you apply, you can detail your interests to be matched with suitable career opportunities.
Compensation & Benefits
The target hiring range for ASPCA Veterinarian roles varies by location and cost of labor. For on-site, non-toxicology positions, compensation generally ranges between $123,000 - $179,500 annually. Specific ranges will be provided with individual job descriptions.
As the leading animal welfare organization, we recognize the deep connection between animal and human well-being. Our comprehensive benefits package for most positions reflects our commitment to our team:
- Affordable health coverage, including medical, optional vision, and employer-paid dental.
- Flexible time off, including vacation, sick, bereavement, paid parental leave, 10 company holidays, and personal time.
- Competitive financial incentives and a 401(k) plan with generous employer contributions (dollar-for-dollar match up to 4%, plus an additional 4%—totaling up to 8% annually).
- Robust professional development, including classes, on-the-job training, coaching, mentorship, internal mobility, and volunteer opportunities.
Beyond standard benefits, the ASPCA provides a unique culture and resources:
- Focus on quality patient care without the burden of high client service costs.
- Continuous learning, mentorship, expert connections, and ongoing training.
