Job Purpose
As a Senior Data Business Analyst, you will direct the initiation, discovery, and delivery of work on multiple projects, managing vying deadlines with a strong focus on data and BI delivery. This role requires utilizing existing industry knowledge and change management skills to prioritize stakeholder needs and define optimal business and/or technological processes and requirements. You will take ownership of smaller-scale projects and enhancements, lead the improvement and evolution of Ascot’s Data Business Analysis tooling and processes, and assist the Business Analysis Manager in evolving the Change Management Framework, promoting its benefits across the Group.
Detailed Duties
- Ensure that all captured requirements meet business needs and success criteria, meticulously controlling scope, budget, and timescales.
- Engage extensively with peers and customers to ensure stakeholder requirements are clear and understood through techniques such as data models, data flows, report specifications, and wireframes.
- Understand and define requirements through comprehensive data analysis, including identifying data sources, assessing data quality, mapping data lineage, and ensuring data governance.
- Utilize excellent visual presentation skills to dissect complex issues and articulate clear options and solutions to stakeholders.
- Assist stakeholders in implementing recommended changes, including actively resolving any issues that arise.
- Act as a crucial 'translator' between IT and customer needs, ensuring absolute clarity on project requirements.
- Assist stakeholders in embedding and seamlessly handing over projects into business-as-usual operations.
- Lead the development and advancement of the Business Analysis framework specifically concerning data delivery.
- Contribute positively to Ascot’s Business Analyst Forum, presenting discussion areas to enhance knowledge sharing and overall performance.
- Assist with the training, development, and mentoring of other Business Analysts within the team.

- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Lloyd’s & London Market and its data intricacies.
- Possess the confidence and communication skills required to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels of the company.

- Possess strong knowledge of data technologies such as SQL, SSRS, and Power BI, as well as general relational database and reporting architectures.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft skills, particularly Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Possess working knowledge of modern delivery and collaboration tools, maximizing their effectiveness (e.g., Miro, Test Monitor, Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence etc.).
