Position Summary
The Actuarial Pricing Developer Intern will support the build, enhancement, and maintenance of actuarial pricing models within HX Renew — a web platform for developing and deploying Python‑based pricing tools. The intern will be working closely with the Pricing Actuarial and Pricing Development teams, as well as the wider business on project work. The intern will play a hands‑on role in improving model logic, introducing new features, supporting testing cycles, and helping ensure the quality and reliability of our pricing tools.
Summer Internship Duration: 8 Weeks
Summer Internship Dates: Monday 22nd June - Friday 14th August 2026
Principal Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance Python‑based actuarial pricing models within the HX Renew platform.
- Support the migration, build, and refinement of pricing logic aligned to actuarial specifications.
- Assist with testing of new and existing model functionality, including documenting results and identifying areas for improvement.
- Contribute to optimisation, model performance improvements, and feature development.
- Provide technical support for model users and collaborate with actuarial colleagues to troubleshoot issues and refine requirements.
- Participate in wider actuarial project work, including: profitability and rate‑change analysis, claims‑focused investigations, validation of cover holder rating methodologies, limit‑factor curve exploration and other modelling tasks.
- Work collaboratively across the Pricing Actuarial and Pricing Development teams, demonstrating adaptability, curiosity, and ownership of assigned work.
Requirements
- Strong interest and demonstrated proficiency in Python development (academic, project‑based, or self‑taught).
- Currently studying (or recently graduated in) Computer Science, Data Science, a technical STEM field, or equivalent experience.
- High level of motivation, curiosity, and willingness to “get stuck in” to a variety of technical tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
- Demonstrable record of high achievement, self‑motivation, and relationship building.
- Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
