About the Role
The Specialist-Claims & Litigation at Ascension is responsible for overseeing medical professional liability claims and litigation for the Ascension Health Alliance Professional Liability and General Liability Self-Insurance Trust.
Responsibilities
Manage claims from first notice of loss through resolution. Oversee case strategy, investigations, reserve establishment, and litigation management in collaboration with hospitals, providers, and defense counsel.
- Investigate and process general and professional liability claims.
- Manage all aspects of litigated claims including discovery and document review.
- Develop comprehensive claim strategies and negotiate settlements.
- Oversee litigation assigned to external counsel and panel counsel.
- Prepare presentations for senior leadership and the National Claims Committee.
- Collaborate with Risk Management on lessons learned and mitigation.
- Attend depositions, mediations, and trials.
Requirements
Education needed includes a high school diploma equivalency with experience, or higher degrees with lesser experience. Two years of leadership experience is preferred.
