Job Description

Online Course Coordinator at Arizona State University

This role drives an essential part of the Learning Enterprise mission to create stackable pathways to career mobility and degree attainment. As an Online Course Coordinator, you will support the delivery of a group of discipline-specific courses in Computer Information Systems, Amazon Web Services, and Applied Business and Data Analytics, providing thousands of learners with foundational learning in this critical discipline area that enables pathways to higher education and economic mobility.

You will report to Universal Pathways leadership and the Sr. Program Manager for Business and Arts. You will support the Faculty of Record in facilitating course objectives and content. As a key member of the Universal Learner Course (ULC) academic infrastructure, you will support high-quality instruction at scale, introducing thousands of learners to the discipline.

You will also manage affiliated personnel—student worker graders and instructional aides—who support your group of Computer Information Systems, Amazon Web Services, and Applied Business and Data Analytics courses, ensuring a consistent, high-quality learner experience. You will collaborate with the instructional design and student success teams to deliver the courses effectively.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position and is at-will. This role is not fully remote and is based at ASU’s Tempe campus. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States, as ASU will not sponsor this position. A Fingerprint background check is a mandatory step in the hiring process.

Essential Duties

In your first year as an Online Course Coordinator, you will support operations in CIS, ABDA, AWS, and Google IT courses including but not limited to: Business Data Visualization, Location Analytics, Cloud Architecture, Cloud Analytics, Google Business Technology Fundamentals, and Computer Networking in Organizations delivered through Canvas to maximize learner success and potential for scalability. Specifically, you will:

  • Provide an engaged presence on in-course discussion boards—answering learner questions, offering feedback, and fostering community building.
  • Supervise graders and instructional aides for the course(s).
  • Assist with hiring and training graders and instructional aides by evaluating resumes, conducting interviews, and leading onboarding sessions.
  • Offer constructive and timely feedback on the quality of work submitted by both learners and instructional staff to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Host weekly check-in meetings with the course grading team to discuss progress, address challenges, and implement strategies for enhancing course efficiency and effectiveness.
  • If applicable, host a weekly 45-minute live discussion session via Zoom during regular school hours for the NEON partners to enhance student engagement and deepen understanding of the course content.
  • Maintain the quality and consistency of learner feedback, empowering students with actionable insights.
  • Work with the Faculty of Record and leadership to resolve learner issues and review academic integrity cases.
  • Prepare course data and provide insights to inform course evaluation and future revisions.
  • Collaborate on course updates and improvements based on learner performance and feedback.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer information systems.
  • Demonstrated excellence in online teaching or course facilitation within relevant discipline areas.
  • Proficiency in Canvas (or comparable LMS) for managing all aspects of a course.
  • Evidence of leveraging technology to support and enhance large-scale course delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse instructional team.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment that prioritizes learner experience and success.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse. Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
