About The Position

We are seeking dedicated Team Members to thrive in our fast-paced, 24/7 advanced manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Operations Team Members will support various critical aspects of the steel production process. Successful applicants will be considered for opportunities within the following areas, based on their skills and previous experiences:

  • Cokemaking: Transforming coal into coke.
  • Ironmaking: Combining coke with iron ore and limestone to create liquid iron.
  • Steelmaking: Transforming molten iron into steel and casting it into slabs, including recycling steel scraps.
  • Hot Mill: Reheating slabs and running them through a roughing mill to flatten steel into continuous sheets, then coiling the hot-rolled steel.
  • Material Handling & Logistics: Managing raw material supply and moving heavy slabs and steel coils to their next manufacturing destination.
  • Cold Roll Tin / Pickling and Cold Rolling / Galvanize: Unwinding, flattening, and coating coils in zinc, aluminum, or tin plating.
  • Tube Mill: Cutting coils and forming them into tubes for automotive applications.
  • Finished Product Shipping: Packaging and transporting coils to the warehouse for customer delivery.

Job Expectations

  • Working 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights, with overtime as required.
  • Operating in environments that can be hot, humid, cold, dusty, and dirty; some positions may require working at heights.
  • Learning and safely performing new tasks, including basic rigging, mobile equipment operation, and using hand and power tools.
  • Engaging in daily problem-solving, teamwork, and autonomous work.
  • Assisting in the setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting of production processes, machinery, and equipment.
  • Performing physically demanding tasks such as walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and repeated physical movement (twisting, pulling, pushing, and crouching).
  • Some climbing of stairs, ladders, and scaffolding may be required.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED).
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Manufacturing experience is desirable, including but not limited to: Overhead/Remote Crane Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator, experience within the Canadian Forces, Steel Industry experience, Construction, Bricklaying, Welding, Shipping and Receiving.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a keen ability to learn, critical thinking, and a readiness to take on new responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and capacity to perform in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are crucial.
  • Basic computer skills, software literacy, and the ability to adapt to new technology.

Compensation

This position offers a starting hourly rate of $27.07, with opportunities for wage increases based on demonstrated skills and competencies.
