Job Details

Essential Functions

Check-In:

  • Greet patients and visitors arriving for appointments.
  • Check patients in by entering demographics, insurances, and authorizations.
  • Verify medical insurance benefits promptly.
  • Contact insurance companies or primary care physicians for authorization and referrals.
  • Coordinate patient insurance benefits and provider programs.
  • Collect all co-payments/balances upfront.
  • Call PCPs for referrals/authorizations as necessary.
  • Obtain and enter new provider information into NextGen.
  • Enter and verify patient information into the EMR and scan paperwork.
  • Complete end-of-day closing duties.
  • Assist in cross-training new front desk personnel.
  • Answer phones promptly and route inquiries appropriately.

Check-Out:

  • Check out every patient.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and adhere to appointment protocols.
  • Post charges and update capitations.
  • Fax notes to PCP or referral physician.
  • Collect co-payments for self-pay patients or pending fees.
  • Scan supporting documentation into the patient’s chart.

Requirements

Job Specifications:

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage and diffuse patient complaints.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records and Outlook.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
