Job Description

Project Support Engineer at Aramco

This position requires full relocation to Saudi Arabia and offers a permanent full-time Expat Relocation Package.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Project Support Engineer to join the Saudi Aramco Loss Prevention (LP) organization, which serves as the corporate safety organization within Saudi Aramco. LP is responsible for providing both day-to-day in-field occupational and process safety support to Saudi Aramco operations, alongside centralized technical support and consulting functions. Our field offices span locations such as Abqaiq, Riyadh, Ras Tanura, Dhahran, Udhailiyah, Jeddah (including Yanbu and Jazan), and Tanajib, ensuring comprehensive service delivery to all Saudi Aramco facilities and departments throughout the Kingdom.

Your primary role involves collaborating with key stakeholder organizations to provide technical guidance on facility design requirements. This guidance will cover fire prevention and process safety engineering areas, including but not limited to firewater systems, fireproofing, emergency shutdown systems, drainage systems, tank designs, electrical classifications, pipeline design factors, equipment access and layout, spacing, and risk areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and develop procedures for all Company organizations on fire prevention and safety in facilities design and related operational requirements.
  • Review new projects to ensure conformance to Engineering Standards, representing LP at project proposal meetings, and offering continuous guidance through design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Offer companywide technical guidance and assistance during technical fire/safety in design-related surveys of Saudi Aramco facilities to assess adequacy of design, operations, and maintenance.
  • Initiate and participate in studies to resolve problems that extend beyond currently available technology.
  • Participate on task forces and study groups dedicated to resolving specific problems.
  • Utilize hazard analysis techniques to identify corporate risk exposure and develop cost-effective countermeasures.
  • Assist in surveys of Saudi Aramco operations by insurance, government, and other outside agencies, acting as the Company's expert on fire prevention and B Series Standard requirements.
  • Mentor other LP personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Possess 10+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 5 years specifically focused on addressing technical safety and fire prevention engineering issues, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of hydrocarbon industry design and operational standards and practices.
  • A Professional Engineering certification in Fire Protection or an advanced degree is highly desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrate excellent ability to communicate effectively in English with peers and management, and produce clear, concise reports in English.

Working Environment

At Aramco, our people work on truly world-scale projects, supported by unparalleled investment in capital and technology.
