Overview of the Facilities Planning Engineer, Unconventional Resources Role at Aramco
Aramco occupies a special position in the global energy industry as one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals. As a Facilities Planning Engineer within the Unconventional Resources Facilities Planning Division (URFPD) at Aramco, you will play a crucial role in developing and coordinating capital programs for Unconventional Resources, providing essential engineering support and project management expertise.
This permanent, residential role is based in Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies for major additions and upgrades to gas processing and NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) facilities.
- Perform evaluations to establish and support long-term business strategies related to gas and NGL facilities.
- Coordinate overall planning, control, and appraisal of projects as defined by approved scopes.
- Prepare written project justifications for presentation to executive and Corporate Management.
- Develop conceptual designs for facilities.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of budget briefs, budget estimates, expenditure requests, economic analyses, and authorization for expenditure.
- Prepare scoping papers to define capital projects covering gas processing and NGL facilities.
- Develop facilities and fields master plans.
- Interface with operating organizations, engineering, project management, and corporate planning teams.
- Apply experience in process simulations.
- Conduct studies to confirm scoping requirements and justify major gas investments.
- Perform system and economic evaluations of existing and potential new gas processing and NGL facilities.
- Direct the evaluation of major gas and NGL facilities as performed by others.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to Corporate Management on gas processing and NGL operations issues.
- Coordinate planning to adjust for unanticipated changes in scope, materials, equipment delivery, and cost.
- Mentor young facilities planning engineers for future development into Facilities Planning Consultants positions.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical, or an equivalent technical field.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years specifically in gas processing and NGL.
- Preferred experience in the field of Shale Gas.
- Demonstrated strong character and self-motivation, enabling effective engagement with clients, owners, and detail design contractors.
