Bar Manager at Aqua Restaurant Group

A Bar Manager oversees the staff and operations of a bar, ensuring it's clean, efficiently functioning, and an inviting space for customers. Key responsibilities include scheduling employees, managing customer complaints, and maintaining well-stocked inventory.

This role requires strong project management and leadership skills to deliver an excellent customer experience. Bar Managers ensure smooth daily operations, manage resources and staff, and cultivate a safe, enjoyable environment for both employees and patrons.

Bar Manager Job Duties

  • Managing the business aspects of the bar, including maintaining a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking and maintaining inventory, reordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new bar staff employees.
  • Handling customer complaints efficiently and professionally.
  • Advertising daily, weekly, and monthly bar promotions effectively.
  • Ensuring all staff adhere to food control and safety regulations.
  • Creating employee schedules based on expected customer numbers and operational needs.
  • Developing and updating drink and food menus.
  • Ensuring the bar is consistently well-stocked and impeccably clean.
  • Tracking customer behavior and sales data to inform strategy.
  • Maintaining the budget and monitoring costs effectively.
  • Documenting and maintaining drink recipes.
  • Overseeing planning for special events and promotions.
  • Appropriately delegating tasks to staff members.
  • Selecting and purchasing liquor and other necessary supplies.
  • Overseeing all bar staff, including bartenders, barbacks, and potentially bouncers, wait staff, and/or kitchen staff.
  • Hiring, training, promoting, and, when necessary, disciplining or terminating staff.
  • Selecting music, booking bands, and providing input on décor and marketing initiatives, including social media and other publicity forms.
  • Initiating and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Utilizing point-of-sale tracking technology and bar/restaurant management platforms.
  • Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent safety or legal issues, including ejecting unruly persons if necessary.
  • Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for all patrons.
