Job Overview
APTIM is seeking a Junior Geologist/Environmental Scientist to conduct environmental site investigations and remedial actions. This role involves field work, desktop analysis, reporting, and occasional overnight travel. The candidate will apply their skills to both standard and nonstandard situations.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental site characterization, monitoring, permitting, and regulatory reporting.
- Collect and interpret soil, groundwater, surface water, and air sample data.
- Execute field work, maintain project schedules and budgets, and supervise contractors.
- Perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments according to ASTM standards.
- Conduct site inspections for NPDES permits and erosion control, and support environmental permitting projects.
- Draft technical documents for regulatory agencies and private clients.
- Optionally support industrial hygiene assessments including asbestos and lead-based paint inspections.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, or related field.
- 0-5 years of relevant field and report preparation experience.
- Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel overnight when required.
- Strong communication skills with ability to work outdoors in varying weather.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and scientific computer programs.
- Certifications like OSHA-HAZWOPER training are a plus.
