Job Details

Job Overview:

APTIM is seeking a Staff Engineer or Project Engineer for our Solid Waste Services Group in the Concord, California area. The candidate will conduct field inspections, compliance monitoring & reporting, and construction quality assurance for our diverse portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate geologic and hydrogeologic conditions and provide analyses
  • Perform groundwater, leachate, stormwater, and landfill gas sampling and testing
  • Prepare and complete regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and special studies
  • Conduct data entry and statistical analysis
  • Communicate technical concepts and evaluation results in meetings
  • Collaborate with team members and coordinate with contractors and clients
  • Conduct field inspections and oversee construction quality assurance
  • Coordinate with field and laboratory teams for sampling events
  • Oversee installation of monitoring wells and supervise field tasks as needed
  • Uphold a "Safety First" work ethic and be physically able to lift 50 pounds

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • 2 to 8 years of experience including compliance reporting
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Team player with self-starter and problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
  • Ability to wear proper PPE on hazardous waste sites

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Landfill / Solid Waste operations
  • Licensed as a Professional Geologist or Engineer in California
  • Previous experience with the California State Water Resources Control Board
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher preferred
  • Familiarity with statistical evaluation methods and Sanitas software

Benefits & Compensation:

The targeted pay rate for this position is $33.70 to $55.00 per hour.
