Job Overview

APTIM is currently seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer to join our Solid Waste Services Group in Concord, California. You will support an exciting portfolio of projects by conducting field inspections, compliance monitoring and reporting, and construction quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Evaluate geologic and hydrogeologic conditions and provide analyses
  • Perform groundwater, leachate, stormwater, and landfill gas sampling and testing
  • Prepare and complete regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and special studies
  • Conduct data entry and statistical analysis
  • Communicate technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, and reports during team meetings
  • Collaborate with team members and coordinate with contractors and clients
  • Conduct field inspections and provide construction quality assurance oversight
  • Coordinate with the field team and laboratory to prepare sampling paperwork and orders
  • Oversee installation of monitoring wells and supervise other field tasks as required
  • Adhere to a 'Safety First' work ethic, including lifting up to 50 pounds

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • 2 to 8 years experience, including compliance reporting
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Teamwork, self-starter, and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
  • Proper PPE usage on hazardous waste sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Landfill / Solid Waste experience is a plus
  • Licensed State of California Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer is a plus
  • Experience with the California State Water Resources Control Board is a plus
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher certificate is a plus
  • Knowledge of statistical evaluation methods (Sanitas software is a plus)

Compensation

The targeted pay rate for this position is $33.70-$55.00 per hour.
