Job Overview

APTIM is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team of engineering professionals serving Government and Commercial programs. In this role, you will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, design, construction, and commissioning phases of various projects. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously while supporting a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Produce complete electrical design documentation including drawings, specifications, and calculations for systems such as power distribution, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, backup power, instrumentation, controls, and fire detection.
  • Possibly lead project teams or supervise junior personnel.
  • Analyze complex problems through data evaluation and apply sound judgment to select optimal solutions.
  • Coordinate with Engineers, Designers, and other disciplines to complete multi-discipline design packages.
  • Support the planning, design, procurement, and construction phases of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, and company policies.
  • Travel to work sites and other company offices as required for project support.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • 4-7 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering theories, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI codes and standards.
  • Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain one shortly after hire.
  • Ability to obtain a DOE security clearance (US Citizen required).
  • Strong computer skills including Office products and engineering software (ETAP, SKM, Visual, etc.).
  • Experience with CADD tools (AutoCAD, REVIT, MicroStation, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Field and construction experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for short-duration field/site visits.
