Job Overview

APTIM is seeking a Staff Engineer or Project Engineer for our Solid Waste Services Group in the Concord, California area. In this Civil Engineer role, you will support a portfolio of projects, conducting field inspections, compliance monitoring, and construction quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Evaluate geologic and hydrogeologic conditions and provide analyses.
  • Perform groundwater, leachate, stormwater and landfill gas sampling and testing.
  • Prepare and complete regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and special studies.
  • Conduct data entry and statistical analysis.
  • Communicate technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, and reports during team meetings.
  • Collaborate with team members and coordinate with contractors and clients.
  • Conduct field inspections and construction quality assurance oversight.
  • Coordinate with field team and laboratory for sampling paperwork and orders.
  • Oversee installation of monitoring wells and supervise other field tasks as required.
  • Maintain a "Safety First" work ethic and perform physical work up to 50 pounds.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Engineering.
  • Possession of Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • 2 to 8 years of relevant experience, including compliance reporting.
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Team player with a self-starter attitude.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Ability to wear proper PPE for hazardous waste sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Landfill / Solid Waste experience.
  • Licensed California Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer is a plus.
  • Experience with the California State Water Resources Control Board.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current refresher certificate is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical evaluation methods (Sanitas software knowledge is a plus).

Compensation

The targeted pay rate for this position is $33.70 - $55.00 per hour.
