We’re looking for an exceptional, driven, and technically visionary Staff Engineer to help shape the future of our platform and accelerate our mission to simplify taxes for everyone. You’ll play a central role in designing and building scalable systems and tools that enable our teams to deliver exceptional user experiences with speed and confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead critical engineering initiatives from design through deployment.
  • Participate in technical decision-making and cross-team knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, and stakeholders for data-driven experiences.
  • Evaluate and introduce innovative tools and practices.
  • Promote high standards through clean code, testing, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ in senior roles.
  • Expertise in designing distributed systems in cloud-native environments (GCP or AWS).
  • Deep expertise in backend technologies including microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Strong skills in system design, architecture, and balancing trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers in production.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
