The Role: Freelance Solutions Architect

We are looking to bring on a Freelance Solutions Architect with a particular strength in integrating Customer Data Platforms (CDP) and marketing automation tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guiding the full implementation lifecycle for CRM, CDP, and/or Marketing Automation systems, from documentation and planning to writing requirements for code implementation.
  • Recognizing opportunities and solutions to key business challenges through technology, recommending tools, and providing guidance on maximizing value from current tools.
  • Designing entire MarTech stacks from scratch.
  • Providing specifications and requirements for the internal technical team, collaborating with technical project managers and engineers for successful outcomes.
  • Leading implementation projects and consistently communicating deliverables with clients.
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in sales presentations and client standup meetings, confidently discussing deliverables, ideas, and best practices.
  • Offering marketing analytics and reporting support as needed, understanding user journeys, marketing automation, and customer data.
  • Understanding multi/omnichannel transactional and marketing messaging.
  • A good understanding of user states, events, and user journey mapping.

Project Examples

  • Multi-tool MarTech implementations, including CDP and Marketing Automation Platforms, aligned with business use cases and prioritization alongside business strategists.
  • Assisting in creating new marketing programs by translating technical requirements into code for various data sources and their flow into destinations.
  • Marketing automation migrations, ensuring proper data schemas for existing lifecycle programs, optimizing for new use cases, and enabling new tool features.
  • Optimizing clients’ existing lifecycle programs by improving data accuracy, identifying schema improvements, or finding other efficiencies for personalized messaging.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating 3rd party tools and involvement in ETL solution planning and development.
  • 2+ years of direct experience with Segment, mParticle, Tealium, Treasure Data, or similar CDP tools.
  • 2+ years of experience in client or key stakeholder interaction.
  • Previous experience designing and architecting a CDP or Marketing Automation integration, with the ability to articulate the entire implementation process.
  • Experience working with APIs, Mobile SDKs, HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript.
  • Experience with cloud technology such as AWS (EC2/S3/Lambda/Redshift), GCP Heroku, or iPaas.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience determining cross-platform technical requirements for tools across the MarTech stack.
  • Platform experience designing and implementing solutions within Segment, Rudderstack, mParticle, Tealium, or similar CDPs.
  • Technical experience configuring automated campaigns and journeys within Lifecycle marketing tools like Braze, Iterable, Klaviyo, customer.io, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with other tools across the MarTech stack, including analytics, enrichment, and attribution.
  • Understands multi/omnichannel transactional and marketing messaging.
  • Understands marketing attribution and can audit platform integrations and attribution data.
  • Proficient with JSON or SQL/data modeling best practices.
  • Experience in data activation using reverse ETL tools like Hightouch or Census.
  • Proficient with scripting languages and lambda functions.
  • Ability to clearly articulate/present technical topics to a non-technical audience.
  • Platform experience with Shopify or Magento.
