Position Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for an Associate Application Security Engineer to join our team. In this role you will aid our Information Security team and be responsible for assisting in identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities in applications and implementing robust security measures.

What You’ll Do

• Assisting with application security reviews and basic threat modeling activities
• Supporting code review and dynamic testing under the guidance of senior engineers
• Helping track, triage, and manage application security vulnerabilities
• Contributing to the creation and maintenance of security training materials
• Assisting in developing automated security tests that reinforce secure coding practices
• Documenting findings and helping prepare reports for engineering teams
• Supporting the development of project plans and process documentation
• Participating in security release preparation activities for product teams
• Collaborating with developers to understand issues and support secure development
• Contributing to team initiatives that address recurring or systemic security issues

We’re Excited To Learn More About You

Your experience may include:

• 0–2 years of experience in application security, software development, or related fields
• Familiarity with GitLab or similar version control systems
• Basic understanding of common security flaws and secure coding concepts
• Introductory experience with scripting or development (e.g., .NET Core, Go, Python)
• A foundational understanding of web and network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, etc.)
• Exposure to code review or interest in learning how to identify security issues in code
• Awareness of modern AppSec tools such as SAST, SCA, DAST, or similar
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform is a plus)
• Interest in becoming a subject matter expert in an area of application security over time
• Ability to collaborate effectively with developers and cross‑functional teams

Location

Can work remote or from an Applied Systems office.
