Overview
The Level 1 PRS Case Manager plays a critical role in providing essential support and services to unaccompanied children and their sponsors. This role requires technical and professional expertise to support and advocate for child safety and well-being under the supervision of the PRS Supervisor.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and routine phone and video calls with sponsors and children to assess safety and coordinate services.
- Continuously assess placement safety using child welfare principles and social work best practices.
- Apply a trauma informed approach to support families with trust, safety, and connection.
- Assist with school enrollment and access to community resources via telephonic and video calls.
- Conduct outreach with community agencies for culturally and linguistically appropriate resources.
- Provide education, referrals, advocacy, and support network tracking for sponsors and children.
- Discuss cases with supervisors and adjust service levels as necessary.
- Submit case notes, assessments, and reports using ORR and internal software.
- Maintain high record-keeping standards per ORR and company policies.
- Participate in regular training and virtual meetings using Teams, Zoom, or similar platforms.
- Ensure professional, respectful interactions and confidentiality as per HIPAA and PHI requirements.
- Coordinate communications with key stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and adhere to state and federal laws, company, and ORR policies.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, International Studies, or a related humanitarian field with at least one year of experience.
- Experience with immigrant populations, child welfare, and social service provision is desired.
- Extensive knowledge of local immigrant community resources.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with tablets, laptops, and documentation software.
- Fluency in Spanish is required; additional languages are a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation if required.
- Completion of federal background checks and required certifications (CPR, first aid) may be required.
- Remote work with an appropriate workspace for video conferencing.
Training Requirements
Satisfactory completion of Applied Intellect’s Orientation, ORR-required training, and additional supervisor-identified training is required.
Physical Demands
- Manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Repetitive motions, prolonged periods of sitting or standing, and mental focus.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds) and bending.
- Basic quantitative and mathematical abilities.
