Team Overview
The Data Virtualization Infrastructure (DVI) team manages Apple’s largest multi-cloud storage abstraction and caching platform supporting critical machine learning training workloads across the Apple ecosystem. The team relies on cloud object storage, data analysis, automation, collaboration, and advanced expertise in Kubernetes.
Role Description
We are seeking an experienced software and systems engineer to join our dynamic team as a technical manager. This role demands technical excellence, a proactive mindset, and strong collaboration skills. Key responsibilities include team building across timezones, owning projects from design to delivery, and fostering continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including occasional weekends.
- Collaborate with teams in Bangalore, London, and Cupertino.
- Leverage a diverse stack including open-source tools, commercial solutions, and in-house systems.
- Encourage open dialogue and recognize impactful results.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years experience in scaling applications in cloud environments.
- Experience hiring and leading engineering teams across timezones.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and experience with GKE or EKS.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Rust.
- Strong background in networking, Linux internals, and distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Drive for automating operations through continuous iteration.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Spinnaker, Helm, or Flux.
- Expertise in deploying and monitoring large-scale distributed applications.
