Software Image Quality Manager

The Creativity Apps team at Apple is seeking a Software Image Quality Manager to lead, mentor, and grow a team of Image Quality Engineers. The role focuses on fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Description

In this role, you will plan, design, maintain, and oversee the evaluation and validation of AI and ML models used in photo and video editing features. You will ensure model accuracy, performance, and their overall impact on image and video quality. Collaboration with engineering, product, and design teams is crucial to understand feature requirements and identify as well as mitigate quality risks throughout the development lifecycle.

You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining objective and subjective image quality metrics and benchmarks and championing a quality-first culture across the organization. Presenting quality findings to product and leadership teams is a key part of this role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of managerial experience with a track record of leading teams.
• 5+ years in imaging, video processing or computational photography quality.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Image Processing or equivalent experience.
• Experience in image quality evaluation and testing for photo and video applications.
• Strong understanding of digital image processing, compression algorithms, and video codecs.
• Experience with AI/ML model evaluation, especially in computer vision contexts.
• Knowledge of HDR workflows and advanced color grading techniques.
• Proficiency in QA tools, software testing methodologies, and relevant scripting.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with machine learning algorithms in image processing.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python.
• Understanding of iOS and macOS environments.
• Experience implementing AI/ML editing features.

Pay & Benefits

The base pay range for this role is between $228,100 and $342,800, and compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, employees can benefit from Apple's stock programs, comprehensive benefits, and potential relocation support.
