Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space. It will allow us to do the things we love in ways never before possible — all while staying connected to the people around us.

The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us push the limits of the next generation of interactive and immersive experiences on our platform. This team is working with some of Apple’s most advanced technologies including spatial computing, augmented reality (AR), ARKit and Metal, to create ground-breaking new products. Apple makes the newest technologies accessible to create amazing and delightful user experiences. You will have the opportunity to work in a team enhancing the system experience and developing system-level frameworks and technologies and enabling these 3D interactive experiences, in close collaboration with creative teams across Apple and VPG. The candidate for this Software Development Engineer, Vision Products Software role will be comfortable working in a dynamic and creative environment.

Engineers are expected to work quickly and smartly to help determine the viability of ideas and technologies. You will partner with our extraordinary team of technologists, artists, and designers and work closely with organizations across Apple (Human Interface, Applications, Frameworks, etc.) to design, architect, and implement applications, frameworks, and experiences that will delight, inspire, and empower millions of people every day.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science OR equivalent degree OR equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient development experience in C++ and Objective-C
  • Understanding of system architecture, IPC, TCP/IP networking
  • Experience with AV streaming applications
  • Detail-oriented approach to solving problems and building new things
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience delivering high quality, performant and hardware specific software to end users

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science OR equivalent degree
  • Experience writing optimized code using e.g. profiling tools, SIMD, compute, etc
  • Experience writing multi-threaded code
  • Experience with Swift
  • Strong technical experience on multiple platforms (e.g. macOS, iOS, Windows, etc)
  • AR/VR or 3D real-time applications programming experience

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
