Position Overview: SAP BusinessObjects Application Administrator
We are seeking an experienced SAP BusinessObjects Application Administrator to serve as a technical lead for the administration and maintenance of SAP BI applications and their associated infrastructure at Maersk. This role demands extensive experience in SAP BusinessObjects 4.2 application administration, including maintenance, security, technical stack and component evaluation, and integration with the core application engine. The SAP BusinessObjects Application Administrator will act as the technical owner for the SAP BusinessObjects platform, encompassing application, middleware, OS, database, authentication, and network layers, with primary accountability for platform stability, performance, and modernization.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain SAP BusinessObjects 4.2 SP9 Patch 6 with WebLogic 10.3.6 and Tomcat 9, including troubleshooting deprecated components and ensuring stability.
- Manage Windows AD SSO for CRB domain and Azure Application Proxy configurations for secure internet access.
- Administer both Windows Server 2019 Standard and RHEL environments.
- Provide technical recommendations and input into architectural decisions for the SAP BusinessObjects environment, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based reporting solutions.
- Develop best practices and standards for application administration and maintenance across the organization.
- Implement new integrations, maintenance automations, and fixes to enhance application performance and security.
- Optimize application performance through issue troubleshooting, network limitation analysis, and improving end-user access.
- Mentor junior team members and conduct environmental and infrastructure reviews for vulnerability identification.
- Collaborate with infrastructure architects to ensure application designs align with enterprise infrastructure strategy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application access-related issues.
- Perform proactive monitoring, log analysis, and root cause identification for application, OS, middleware, and networking issues.
- Gather functional requirements for application access and availability.
- Coordinate and prioritize solution delivery with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to change management, release and testing, performance monitoring, and requirements management for SAP BusinessObjects (SAP BI) to provide global users with optimal service.
- Identify, design, and roll out internal process improvements, such as automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
- Work closely with internal customers in an agile manner to understand, decompose, and scope technical solutions based on best practice designs.
- Maintain and optimize clustered SAP BO infrastructure (WebLogic, Tomcat, Windows/Linux OS).
- Manage connectivity to relational databases, Dremio, Synapse, and Azure private endpoints.
- Develop Disaster Recovery plans and validate backups for SAP BO environments.
- Prepare for the BI 2025 upgrade and AI model integration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in SAP BusinessObjects platform administration and operations.
- Advanced knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise platform.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and database optimization.
- Extensive experience with SAP BusinessObjects 4.2 administration.
- WebLogic 10.3.6 and Tomcat 9 administration experience (including JVM tuning, heap sizing, GC analysis, Thread pool, connection pool, and timeout tuning, SSL/certificate lifecycle management, Reverse proxy, Load balancer stickiness, Session replication, Web tier authentication failures).
- Experience with Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) and APS tuning.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2019 and RHEL troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Windows AD SSO, SAML, and certificate-based authentication.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure and networking concepts.
- Proven experience in leading technical projects.
- Basic understanding of SAP BusinessObjects development.
- Good communication skills.
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle.
- Exceptional analysis skills for preparing applications for further use or consumption.
- Experience in SAP BO infrastructure administration (servers, clustering).
- Knowledge of JDBC/ODBC connectivity and Oracle client configuration.
- Experience with GIT.
- Familiarity with Azure networking and private endpoints.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams including data engineers, architects, and AI specialists.

- Experience in SAP BusinessObjects development.
- Experience integrating AI-driven analytics or predictive models into BI workflows.
- Understanding of reporting and analytics requirements in the market and ability to compare products for their use cases.
- Basic Python programming for automation and AI integration.
- Understanding of infrastructure components and their interaction with SAP BOBJ software.
- Understanding and knowledge of networking layer not just limited to SAP BOBJ software.
- Experience with BI platform upgrades (preferably SAP BI 4.2 to BI 2025).
- Knowledge of hybrid architecture (on-prem + cloud integration).
- Experience optimizing SAP BO for large-scale deployments and high-volume data sources.
- Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance in BI environments.
- Knowledge of SAML, certificate-based authentication, and Azure AD integration for secure access.
- Hands-on experience with SAP BI platform upgrades.
- Knowledge of tools like SAP BO Monitoring, OEM, or third-party solutions for performance and health checks.
- Experience creating scripts for maintenance tasks (PowerShell, Python, or shell scripting).
- Understanding of compliance requirements and audit readiness for BI environments.
