About The Role
As a Senior Project Manager in our Technology Delivery Practice, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading workflow and integration initiatives across ANZ New Zealand. You’ll provide senior‑level planning, management, and oversight to ensure projects are aligned with strategic priorities and delivered successfully across the business. Your leadership will bring structure and clarity to multi‑disciplined teams, enabling them to deliver workflow management solutions that streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
This role will see you coordinating resources and managing technical delivery interdependencies across multiple streams of work, integration, infrastructure, mainframe, leading the technical migration of a core banking platform on IBM zOS. You will create an environment where teams can focus, resolve issues early and move work forward with purpose. What will your day look like?
The Senior Technology Project Manager is critical to making this happen and key responsibilities of the role will include the following:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery, from inception through to delivery of large and complex technology projects and/or key pieces of work within large programmes
- Work collaboratively with key business owners, stakeholders and teams to deliver the best outcome for the customer
- Work collaboratively/manage 3rd party vendors to deliver the best outcome for the customer
- Provide financial budget oversight across project deliverables
- Operate across multiple teams to ensure delivery is aligned
- Own overall project delivery, including phased planning (Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Go Live), schedule, budget, and change control
- Coordinate technical workstreams covering Database migration, and parallel testing
- Actively manage migration risks with clear contingency and rollback plans
- Lead stakeholder engagement across Application Development, CICS, Storage, Treasury Operations, IT Ops, and Risk and Compliance
- Plan and secure specialist resources and oversee training, cutover, and post go live readiness
- Identify and manage the risks, issues and dependencies throughout the delivery framework
- Apply sound project management principles and work within the ANZ Delivery Frameworks
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- 8+ years IT project management, including mainframe migration or infrastructure modernisation
- Hands on expertise and comfortable within the Mainframe domain with VSAM, CICS, JCL et al.
- Extensive experience in leading complex technology projects, with a strong track record of delivery.
- PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, or equivalent
- Proven delivery of large-scale technical programs ($5M+) in high risk environments
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels — from executives to technical teams.
- Deep knowledge of software delivery frameworks, governance, and controls, with proven ability to apply and adapt project management methodologies to suit each initiative.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, including time management, decision‑making, and the ability to build high‑performing teams and foster strong relationships.
- Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and ambiguity, coupled with the capability to coach, mentor, and build capability across multi‑disciplined teams.
