Job Description
Technical Deployment Lead, Applied AI at Anthropic
At Anthropic, our mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We are committed to ensuring AI is safe and beneficial for our users and society. Our rapidly growing team consists of dedicated researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders collaborating to build beneficial AI systems.
About The Role
As a Technical Deployment Lead on the Claude Agentic Solutions team, you will be instrumental in delivering custom AI agent solutions to enterprise customers within highly regulated industries. This role involves owning high-value engagements, working directly with customers to build and deploy agents into their most critical business processes.
This is a founding team within Anthropic, meaning you will help establish technical playbooks, define processes, and identify repeatable patterns essential for scaling this emerging initiative. You will champion Anthropic's mission in the field, ensure world-class delivery, and regularly provide insights back to our product and research teams.
You will manage engagements end-to-end, from the Statement of Work (SOW) to production deployment. While Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) develop the technical solution, you will be responsible for product scoping, stakeholder management, value measurement, and navigating the organizational complexities inherent in deploying AI agents in enterprise environments. Your role requires sufficient technical depth to engage in architecture discussions with engineering stakeholders and the polish to conduct executive briefings with C-suite sponsors.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical delivery plan for each engagement, structuring SOWs with clear scope, milestones, dependencies, success criteria, and value hypotheses.
- Translate customer business objectives into a sequenced roadmap for FDE execution.
- Lead technical discovery, including mapping customer workflows, identifying constraints, defining MVP scope, and shaping solution architecture for custom agent deployments.
- Manage day-to-day engineering execution and delivery across Anthropic and customer teams, unblocking progress and making real-time trade-offs to protect the critical path.
- Own product scoping for field engagements: define the MVP, author requirements documentation, prioritize the engineering backlog, and manage scope against evolving success criteria.
- Maintain the customer relationship throughout delivery, leading executive briefings and managing stakeholder communications with technical leads and procurement.
- Represent Anthropic's technical credibility to senior business and engineering leaders.
- Own value measurement and ROI: define impact hypotheses, set baselines and KPIs, conduct pre- and post-deployment measurement, and report outcomes to executive sponsors.
- Codify reusable solution patterns, evaluation frameworks, and technical playbooks, feeding field signals back to Product and Research to enhance our platform and models.
- Navigate enterprise and regulatory complexity, including security reviews, legal approvals, procurement processes, compliance requirements, and organizational dynamics.
- Manage scope and change: handle evolving requirements, set expectations, negotiate contract modifications, identify risks early, and escalate with clear context.
- Run delivery operations, including sprint ceremonies, milestone reviews, and progress reporting.
- Travel to customer sites to foster relationships, unblock delivery, and accelerate adoption (25–50% expected).
You May Be a Good Fit If You
- Have 5+ years of customer-facing technical delivery leadership, such as technical engagement management, technical program management, technical product management, startup/founder experience, professional services, consulting, or enterprise software.
- Have successfully delivered AI, ML, or LLM-based agentic solutions into production, understanding solution patterns, integration approaches, and common deployment challenges.
- Possess experience in financial services, healthcare/life sciences, or pharmaceutical verticals.
- Have a background at a Forward Deployed Engineering company or Big 3 / Big 4 professional services and consulting firms.
- Can lead architecture discussions with engineering stakeholders, evaluate technical trade-offs, and pressure-test technical decisions, owning the technical direction alongside FDEs without writing production code.
- Have a proven track record delivering complex, high-stakes technical projects for enterprise clients in regulated industries, where outcomes depended on tight coordination and fast decision-making across multiple work-streams.
- Exhibit executive presence: polished, credible, and comfortable representing Anthropic to senior leaders in high-stakes environments.
- Thrive in ambiguity and can bring structure where none exists.
- Possess a builder's mindset, driven to create a function rather than just join an existing one.
Compensation & Logistics
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
- Annual Salary: $200,000—$345,000 USD
- Education requirements: A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
- Location-based hybrid policy: All staff are currently expected to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office presence.
- Visa sponsorship: Anthropic does sponsor visas and will make every reasonable effort to secure one if an offer is made.
We encourage applications even if you don't meet every single qualification, as not all strong candidates will. We believe in the importance of diverse perspectives given the social and ethical implications of AI systems. Your safety matters: Anthropic recruiters will only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. Be cautious of other domains or requests for money/banking information.
