About The Role: Founding Developer Relations Lead

As the Founding Developer Relations Lead at Anthropic, you will build and lead the team responsible for how developers discover, onboard, build, and scale applications using Claude and Anthropic's suite of AI products. This role will be pivotal in growing our developer ecosystem, gathering crucial feedback to inform product development, and ensuring our AI products are used responsibly across a diverse range of implementations. You'll set the vision and strategy for growing and engaging Anthropic's developer community, including partners, customers, and independent developers. Your success in this role will directly shape Anthropic's growth trajectory and market position while ensuring our AI products are implemented responsibly across countless use cases. Building strong relationships between our developer community and internal teams will be essential as we advance our mission of creating reliable, interpretable AI that follows human intent.

What You'll Do

Set the Vision and Drive Strategic Impact

• Own and develop the near and long-term strategy for how developers discover and engage with Anthropic’s developer products
• Create frameworks for measuring developer success that align with both business objectives and our mission of safe, beneficial AI
• Prioritize community building and growth initiatives based on data, feedback, and the needs of both developers and Anthropic's business objectives
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to ensure developer needs inform the roadmap

Build and Lead a World-Class Team

• Pioneer the definition of what world-class AI developer relations looks like in this emerging field
• Recruit, inspire and scale a high-impact developer relations team with global reach and representation across key markets
• Foster a collaborative culture that embodies Anthropic's values while driving innovation in how we engage developers
• Create and implement scalable processes that evolve as both the team and developer ecosystem expand
• Establish clear growth paths and development opportunities for team members that align personal advancement with delivering exceptional value

Drive Scaled Developer Adoption and Success

• Understand the diverse needs of customers, partners, and stakeholders across different segments, from individual developers to enterprise organizations
• Partner strategically with GTM, Sales, and Marketing teams to create unified developer-focused campaigns that drive adoption while reinforcing Anthropic's position in the market
• Organize and lead high-impact developer events, workshops, and community activities that introduce Claude to strategic developer communities
• Generate high-quality technical content including sample apps, tutorials, documentation, integration guides, and best practices that demonstrate how to use Claude responsibly and effectively

Drive Alignment and Innovation Through Cross-Functional Leadership

• Act as an advocate for developer needs at Anthropic, translating developer feedback into strategic initiatives
• Collaborate with Research to translate AI capabilities into accessible educational resources
• Partner with Communications and Marketing teams to amplify developer success stories
• Ensure best practices for responsible AI use are adopted by developers building with Claude

About You

The ideal candidate for the Founding Developer Relations Lead position will have a proven track record of building and leading developer relations, developer experience, or technical product teams. You should possess deep technical credibility in AI/ML and API concepts, capable of creating code demos and providing specific technical feedback. A strong understanding of developer psychology, passion for responsible AI, and collaborative leadership skills are essential. Experience scaling teams in high-growth environments is also key.
