About The Role
As a member of the Applied AI team at Anthropic, you will be a Forward Deployed Engineer Applied AI who embeds directly with our most strategic federal civilian (and occasionally state and local) customers to drive transformational AI adoption. You will collaborate closely with customer teams to ship advanced AI applications that solve real-world business problems and develop innovative solutions built on our models.
Core Responsibilities
- Build production applications with Claude models within customer systems.
- Deliver technical artifacts such as MCP servers, sub-agents, and agent skills.
- Provide white glove deployment support in federal government environments.
- Identify repeatable deployment patterns and share insights with internal teams.
- Maintain strong knowledge of LLM and AI product development trends.
- Foster long term relationships and proactively identify new AI deployment opportunities.
- Travel frequently (25-50%) to customer sites for hands-on collaboration.
- Champion Anthropic’s mission in customer environments.
You Might Be a Good Fit If You Have
- Prior experience working with US federal civilian, state, or local agencies.
- 4+ years in a technical, customer-facing role or consulting experience.
- Production experience with LLMs including prompt engineering and deployment at scale.
- Proficiency in Python and additional languages like TypeScript or Java.
- High agency and ability to navigate ambiguity in complex organizations.
- Strong communication skills for customer discovery and technical explanation.
- Experience with government IT systems and/or AI deployment patterns (a plus).
Additional Information
The annual salary range for this role is $280,000—$320,000 USD. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required. This role follows a location-based hybrid policy (minimum 25% in office) and visa sponsorship is available with limitations.
