Role Overview
The eDiscovery Lead will join the Litigation and Regulatory team to build and lead Anthropic’s eDiscovery program from scratch. This foundational role involves supporting active legal matters, developing standard processes, and shaping our overall information governance framework.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage the end-to-end eDiscovery program across the EDRM lifecycle.
- Coordinate between in-house counsel, outside counsel, eDiscovery vendors, and technical teams.
- Manage legal hold processes and support litigation matters, government investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
- Develop and maintain eDiscovery playbooks and best practices documentation.
- Stay updated on eDiscovery law and AI advances to recommend program improvements.
- Help design and implement company-wide information governance frameworks.
- Consult on discovery mechanisms to support case strategy while limiting costs.
- Collaborate with internal teams to map Anthropic’s data landscape.
Qualifications
- 10-12 years of hands-on eDiscovery experience in various legal environments.
- Working knowledge of major eDiscovery platforms (e.g., RelativityOne).
- Strong understanding of Federal Rules on discovery and evidence for ESI.
- Interest or experience with AI and automation tools in eDiscovery.
- Proven program development skills across legal and technical domains.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in eDiscovery at scaling companies or with novel data types.
- Technical curiosity and comfort with APIs, cloud infrastructures, version control, and data pipelines.
- Experience with information governance program development.
- Understanding the unique legal challenges in AI.
Logistics
This role requires working from the San Francisco office at least 3 days a week and follows a location-based hybrid policy. Visa sponsorship is available, subject to certain conditions.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range is $285,000 to $385,000 USD. Anthropic offers competitive benefits including equity donation matching, vacation and parental leave, flexible hours, and a collaborative office environment.
