The Role: Technical Writer

Amplify’s Training & Enablement team, part of the company’s Go To Market function, supports customer-facing teams through product communications, documentation, training, and resource management. We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our Documentation team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and editing engaging educator-oriented help materials. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new help articles, copy edit materials from product and support teams, and apply your expertise in content management and development tools. There may also be opportunities to work with HTML and CSS development systems or take on related projects to support the broader goals of the Training & Enablement team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Learn the functionality of Amplify’s educational products, including tools for rostering, curriculum, assessment, and reporting.
  • Use content development programs (e.g., Salesforce Knowledge, Google Docs, Adobe Creative Cloud) to create instructional materials for educators.
  • Format and edit documents for clarity, accuracy, and Amplify style; manage document lifecycles and multiple versions effectively.
  • Create, edit, and manage graphics and screen shots (including alt text) for help materials.
  • Tailor content for diverse audiences, including teachers, systems administrators, and students, adjusting for varying technical sophistication.
  • Collaborate with source control systems, developers, and Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure proper content integration.
  • Meet regularly with Amplify stakeholders to discuss project workflows, ensure grammatical correctness in designs and specifications, and promote consistency across product communications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or Communications.
  • 2+ years developing end-user documentation professionally OR commensurate classroom/Ed Tech experience with proven writing skills (writing samples required).
  • 2+ years of experience with content management systems such as Salesforce Knowledge, Intercom, or Wordpress.
  • 1+ years of experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop).
  • 1+ years of experience with productivity tools such as Slack, G Suite, Figma, Notion, git/GitHub, and Jira.
  • Proficiency on Mac OS or Windows computers/laptops and iPad OS or Chrome devices.
  • Ability to travel 5-10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Classroom teaching experience or understanding of Literacy and STEM educator challenges.
  • Experience with HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with remote corporate culture.
  • Familiarity with Amplify’s suite of products and services.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Robohelp, Madcap Flare, or similar online help authoring tools.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, commitment to quality, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • A passion for education and enhancing industry/product knowledge.

What We Offer

The gross annual salary for this role ranges from $58,000 to $63,000. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance.
