Job Description

We are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator with strong expertise in enterprise messaging middleware environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administration, configuration, maintenance, deployment, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of IBM MQ environments across UNIX/Linux platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand customer requirements, organizational functions, and messaging infrastructure needs.
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM MQ versions 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, and higher.
  • Support IBM MQ environments on UNIX AIX, RHEL/Linux, and Windows operating systems.
  • Configure and manage MQ components including: Queues, Channels, Listener ports, Pub/Sub, Clustering.
  • Perform security hardening activities including: TLS 1.2 encryption, Authority records, Authentication records.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, architecture, and design activities for MQ environments.
  • Monitor messaging application execution and performance.
  • Perform issue troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and resolution.
  • Manage MQ backup and recovery processes.
  • Execute fix pack installations and MQ version upgrades.
  • Perform administration tasks using MQSC commands.
  • Work closely with development teams to support application development, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Provide architecture and design support for MQ-based applications.
  • Create, maintain, and troubleshoot automation and scripting tools for day-to-day administration.
  • Support disaster recovery (DR) exercises and update operational procedures/documentation accordingly.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8-10+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise messaging middleware environments.
  • Strong expertise in IBM MQ 9.x.
  • Experience with: MQ Clustering, MQ Security, Performance tuning, Deployment and integration, Backup and recovery.
  • Strong knowledge of AIX, RHEL/Linux, and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience supporting production environments and critical messaging infrastructure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex middleware issues independently.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
