Position Summary
The Middle School ELD Teacher is responsible for ensuring students achieve or exceed grade level academic standards and receive a strong college-preparatory education. Teachers will deliver rigorous, effective instruction; plan, implement, and reflect on lessons; and foster positive character and scholar habits grounded in AMPS core values. Teachers report to their school’s leader and are evaluated accordingly.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, rigorous lessons using varied instructional strategies.
- Plan, prepare and implement differentiated lesson plans.
- Implement effective classroom management for a safe, nurturing environment.
- Utilize assessment data to drive instruction.
- Participate in professional development and collaboration.
- Maintain high expectations for academic achievement and behavior.
Planning and Data
Teachers administer assessments, analyze results and align lessons to standards. They develop strategies to ensure every student's growth and actively engage in professional development sessions.
Classroom Culture
Create and maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom. Model AMPS values, reinforce clear expectations and use engagement strategies to ensure effective learning.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- California teaching credential (Internship, preliminary, or clear single/multi subject).
- Strong mastery of subject matter.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong classroom management and presence.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Adherence to AMPS Instructional Domains.
Preferred Skills, Abilities and Experience
- Possession of a BCLAD, CLAD, BCC, or LDS certificate.
- Two years teaching experience preferred.
- Organized, hardworking, team player; Spanish speaker is a plus.
Physical Skills
Requires prolonged standing, fine motor coordination, and occasional physical effort.
