Primary Responsibility
The Automation Operator I is an entry level Automation Operations Associate in a fully automated direct to retail warehouse at Americold. This position involves safely executing tasks such as operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), manual case picking, and basic interactions with graphic user interfaces for automation functions.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor warehouse dock activities including validating accuracy and using PIT to move pallets, bins, and other items.
- Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed.
- Check/count freight for accuracy or damage and report safety malfunctions immediately.
- Operate various equipment including stand up forklifts, straddle trucks, pallet jacks, and radio frequency equipment.
- Interact with automated systems by confirming information on operator input screens and performing basic manual tasks.
- Participate in physical inventories and perform housekeeping tasks for automation equipment and work areas.
Experience and Education
A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with one year of related work experience. Experience in warehouse operations and automated equipment is also preferred. Certifications for operating forklifts or other PIT equipment are an added advantage.

Physical Requirements
The role may require working in environments ranging from 38°F to -10°F to -20°F with appropriate protective gear. The candidate must be able to lift up to 70 lbs occasionally, stand on feet for most of the shift, and handle tasks such as stacking boxes and climbing stairs or ladders.
