Bilingual Part-Time Cybersecurity Faculty
American Public University System (APUS) is seeking dedicated Online Part-Time Faculty in Cybersecurity, specifically those fluent in both English and Spanish. Our faculty are deeply committed to learning, teaching, and engaging with students and peers. Bilingual educators effectively bridge communication gaps for our diverse student body, upholding APUS's commitment to academic excellence through the Community of Inquiry Framework (cognitive, teaching, and social presence).
Faculty play a crucial role in shaping a rewarding online learning experience. This involves actively engaging students, challenging them intellectually, and providing essential support. Beyond direct instruction, faculty contribute to ongoing activities focused on teaching effectiveness and student retention. Maintaining expertise in the discipline, adhering to APUS guidelines, and being receptive to professional development coaching are all integral to this role.
Courses for this position will be taught in Spanish. Candidates must demonstrate fluency in both English and Spanish, which will be assessed through a required fluency test.

General Work Requirements
- All APUS faculty must complete the “Engaging the First‐Year Student Certification” course (APUS110) within six months of hire.
- Graduate Faculty are additionally required to complete the Graduate Faculty Certification (APUS501) within 90 days of hire.
- Specific duties and performance expectations are detailed in Course Assignments for each course taught.
- Compliance with all policies regarding work product and intellectual property rights, as outlined in APUS and APEI Handbooks and Course Assignments, is mandatory.
- This is a remote position, allowing you to perform duties from a professional working environment of your choice.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
- Three or more years of experience in a cybersecurity field (network security, cloud security, incident response, digital forensics, etc.) is preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, across diverse audiences.
- Proficiency testing in both English and Spanish will be a mandatory part of the application process.
- Ability to translate and interpret information accurately and with cultural sensitivity.
- Experience supporting or engaging with Spanish-speaking students preferred.
- College-level teaching experience is preferred.
- Online teaching experience is preferred.
- Record of excellence in teaching.
