About the Role

American Airlines is seeking a UX Engineer AI to join their Digital Customer Experience team. This role is pivotal in transforming UX engineering capabilities by integrating AI-powered automation and workflow innovation. You will collaborate with UX, Engineering, Product, and platform teams to develop and scale AI solutions that enhance the speed, quality, and consistency of digital experiences. The goal is to embed AI-driven practices into design and development workflows, enabling teams to automate tasks, accelerate delivery, and foster new ways of working across the enterprise.

What You'll Do

  • Design and evolve AI-powered workflow architecture to optimize performance, reliability, scalability, automation, and operational efficiency for UX and front-end processes.
  • Build and maintain reusable AI artifacts and automation solutions, such as prompt frameworks, workflow pipelines, and design-to-code accelerators, adhering to enterprise standards.
  • Lead the strategy and implementation of scalable AI-enabled systems, translating technical concepts into easily understandable language for diverse technical audiences.
  • Collaborate within an Agile environment with Engineers, Designers, Product partners, and platform teams to identify opportunities and deliver AI-driven solutions.
  • Facilitate the adoption of AI-driven workflows and modern development practices by product teams to boost speed, quality, and consistency.
  • Measure the success of AI solutions using quantitative metrics that highlight efficiency gains, adoption rates, and business impact.
  • Produce clear, actionable guidelines for designers and developers to understand and implement AI-enabled workflows.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize AI workflows to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce redundancy, and enhance performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience working in Agile environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Experience building or integrating AI/automation tools, APIs, or workflow systems.
  • Experience working with design systems or UX engineering practices at an enterprise scale.
  • Experience collaborating with UX, product, and engineering teams to drive adoption of new technologies.

Key Skills and Certifications

  • Experience with design, prototyping, and component library tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD).
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.0+ AA compliance, localization, inclusive design).
  • Understanding of design system components and patterns for scalable design choices.
  • Ability to articulate design principles and build consensus for vision alignment.
  • Experience with iPhone/Android app design.
