This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division. Responsible for leveraging cutting-edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work.
What You'll Do

- Collaborates with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads and other developers, along with internal customers, to understand requirements and develop needs according to business requirements.
- Maintains and enhances existing enterprise services, applications, and platforms using domain-driven design and test-driven development.
- Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutions.
- Creates detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates.
- Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance.
- Supports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelines.
- Works closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs.
- Perform operations support duties in rotation with the team.
- Travel as necessary, up to 10%.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
- 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments.
- 3 years of professional, design, and open-source experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
- Development in, Administration & support experience in Teradata and MongoDB.
- BI Analytics Tool Stack - Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, and Grafana. Administration skills on any of these platforms is a plus.
- 5 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- 2+ years data analytics experience using SQL.
- 2+ years of Business Intelligence experience (Cognos, Tableau, PowerBI) connecting and working with data in data lake (prefer Microsoft Azure) including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, ADX, ASA, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, and Power BI.
- 2+ years experience in Scripting using Python or Spark.
- Proficiency in Full Stack Development.
- Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the following technologies: Microsoft technologies: Azure DevOps (ADO), Visual Studio, C#, MSSQL Studio; Database and frameworks: MS-SQL, mySQL, PostgreSQL, Object/Relational Mapping, Data Modeling & Design, Query performance tuning; Cloud-based development: Azure, Azure CLI; Web Services: REST/SOAP (JSON/WSDL/XML); Frameworks: .NET Framework 4.n, .Net Core; Front-end: MVC, Angular, CSS, jQuery, HTML5; Build/deployment tools: GIT/GHE, NuGet, ADO, TFSOther Dev Ops Toolchain: Terraform, Selenium, Sauce Labs, Slack, GitHub, GitHub Actions, YAMLOther: Powershell, JavaScript, Python, Monitoring & Alerting Tools - Dynatrace, Moogsoft, New Relic.
- Proficiency in object-oriented design techniques and principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM.
- Experience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
